The Haverford School, Philadelphia

Haverford: The Xchange

The student exchange program begun on 23rd October 2016, when we started our journey from the New Delhi International Airport. I along with three other student flew to Frankfurt, Germany and then from there to Philadelphia, United States. After a long tiring journey Mr. Poolman ,our Exchange Coordinator, came to pick us at the airport and then we drove to the school. At the school our Foster families were waiting for us, we met them and then took a quick tour of the school. Then with our family we went to our respective Home(s) allotted the by the school. After reaching the home Anthony, my brother, showed me around the house, then I unpacked and after that I crashed into my bed and had a nice sleep.

Next morning it was our first day at The Haverford, Mr. Poolman gave us a tour of the school and we met many teachers and many student here, they were very friendly and delighted to see us and so were we.That day we selected the subjects we would like to study and then we had a free day. In the sports time we went around the campus our self and took some pictures. then I got back to my home with Anthony at about 6;45 p.m.. Then it was the time for a mouth watering Dinner. After that I was awake for some time and then went to sleep because next day the classes were going to start. next morning I got a good head-start, by the coffee which my dad made. I had a good day at the school, and that day I came to know that the education system here was very different to the one we have back in India. Here student do more of the practical work as compared to sitting in the classes and studying. And the teachers had a fixed class of their own so the students have to go the their respective classes, unlike India. And here a teacher and a student share a very deep relationship. The teachers are very frank and are like our friend.

Then came Diwali the festival of lights, I went to my aunt's house to celebrate it and it was fun then on 31st we had a Halloween celebration, I went to my first trick or treating, it was fun, I got a lot of candies.

To be continued...
